“The future of indoor air treatment is here,” announced Didier Forget, the CEO of Fläkt Woods, as he launched the new eQ range of air handling units, which progressively will replace the Company’s world-famous EC, STING, and then EU ranges. It takes knowledge and time to perfect on what have become the world’s best selling air-handling units. A project team consisting of 70 engineers have been involved in the eQ-project, which was started early 2007. “Ultimately, the new eQ range is the result of an intensive R&D programme and over a 100 years of experience”, continued Mr Forget. The unit is very easy to select in Fläkt Woods’ selection tool ACON. The selection tool has a number of new features, such as quick selection for energy optimization, low cost and short delivery time. “eQ is our new, highly adaptable air handling unit offering a number of new features that have not previously been available on the market. The high adaptability of the range means that eQ is suitable for commercial and public buildings as well as dwellings, schools, offices, shops and hospitals. The range covers every possible need, from single supply air units to integrated solutions with heat recovery and advanced controls. Clever design and a dedicated supply chain means that eQ also can meet the needs of the most urgent, fast track projects. The flexible design, energy efficient components and smart control system provides a new benchmark for the industry, meeting tomorrow’s demands for performance, cost and energy efficiency, today”, says Patrick Pouliquen, SVP Air Climate Europe. The eQ unit has been developed at Fläkt Woods’ Centre of Excellence in Jönköping, Sweden. It has been designed to make installation and commission as smooth as possible. eQ meets all conceivable air handling requirements and standards in Europe and the unit is in the Eurovent programme. It is manufactured in a certified workshop with regard both to quality (ISO 9001) and to the environment (ISO14001). By combining products into a system, utilising smart controls, Fläkt Woods has achieved the best energy solutions possible. This strategy requires that the systems and individual components are designed together. It takes thorough knowledge of the individual products impact on each other and the ultimate combined effect to reach perfection. Fläkt Woods develop and produce components as well as design systems. At the heart of the system is one of the most powerful digital controllers on the market; the new Siemens Climatix 600. The software has been especially developed for eQ and contains all the functions needed to control an air-handling unit. Bespoke control equipment has been developed to simplify project planning, installation and operation. “The integrated control equipment is supplied complete with all necessary field components; programmed, configured and tested. It is the perfect solution for both small installations with simple control functions and for larger plants with data communication requirements”, says Patrick Pouliquen.
