AMCA installs Fläkt Woods vice president on Executive Committee

Dr. Geoff Sheard, Fläkt Woods’ vice president, Fan Technology, was recently installed as Director-at-large to the Executive Committee of the Air Movement and Control Association International (AMCA), a not-for-profit organization that brings together the world’s manufacturers of related air system equipment, during AMCA’s 55th Annual Meeting in Aventura, Florida.

Dr. Sheard is the first European Director to serve in this capacity for some years, and has served on AMCA’s Board of Directors since October 2008. His unusual engineering/academic combination is complemented by his rare experience of running a major business unit. AMCA will utilize Dr. Sheard’s unparalleled experience in furthering its mission to promote internationally the health and growth of the air handling industry in serving industrial, commercial and residential markets. Its scope includes every type of air handling system and component from fans and louvers to dampers, controls and beyond.

Geoff Sheard remarked: I plan to focus on the international standards and legislation that impact our industry on a worldwide scale. Working for Fläkt Woods, a truly global air movement and controls specialist, gives a unique interest in both the “Movement” and “Control” sides of AMCA.

Dr. Sheard will be able to use both the Fläkt Woods network and AMCA’s outreach to further information on standards and legislation development around the world. The ultimate aim is to reduce the non-tariff trade barriers that currently hinder products developed in one global region from being sold in another.
